Idea for a game!

Well, fighting dragons in certain situations is less dangerous than other situations actually. Fighting a dragon where it can't take advantage of flight is a huge advantage, especially against younger dragons.

Many adventures get the PCs fighting in different environments. Certain spells can change an enviroment drastically in a few seconds anyway.
Strike fast and suddenly. Attack without warning. Secure victory before the foe is aware of his danger. Remember always, a war is easily won if your enemy does not know he is fighting.

It as always depends on the dragon of course. Just remember not to try and take a dragon in its lair... that's about the fastest way to die there is.
Don't dance a bear in a torilla suit in front of a room full of oranges if you don't have the monkeys to catch the surf afterwards.

Odds of even getting to the dragon in it's lair before you die is quite slim. I've seen PCs run off screaming before they even enter, with the rest dying moments after crossing the threshold.

Bloody dragon sorcerer levels.

[QUOTE=Db3;48385]What about a game where the PCs will have to fight in different enviroments? Fighting a were-shark is more dangerous in the water than on land, while fighting a legion of dire bats, isn't nearly as bad in a cave as it would be in an open area.

Ever since reading "The Princess Bride" I've always wanted to do an entire game based on The Zoo of Death part (where one floor is filled with carnivores, another filled with poisonous animals, etc).

How about the raggamoffyn (sp?) monster: The PCs are called out to find a cure for the kings sickness. Ever since a while ago he has started to act funny and wear strange clothes... little did anyone suspect that the pink panty on the king's head was actually a monster controlling him.... :swoon: the horror

Anyway I always liked oozes... mostly because I have fond memories of "The Blob". Could even make an interesting adventure... Ooze Cleric fed black pudding in sewers for several decades, now has turned into a gargantuan bonemeld (CR 20+). When the players enter the city sewers to investigate the numerous murders, they find out that the ooze has grown so large it's appendages spread through the entire sewer system.... not too bad a setup considering its about a creature called black pudding... ;)

On a more serious note: intelligent monsters with vast resources and entrenched in powerful top-world organizations, I think, are more interesting than the typical monster sitting in its lair waiting for a party to kill it. So a dragon in a lair is certainly dangerous, but a dragon who was disguised as the royal advisor, and used his influence to send adventure parties after his rivals could be even more fearsome and memorable...

Same for a Illithid controlling the slavers guild or a beholder with his own cult following...

Someother ideas:
How about brain worms (don't remember the creatures name) taking control of the local wildlife? A Cranium rat hive taking control of the local thieves/beggars guild?

I've always wanted to play a game of chaos: both the planes of existence and the time stream are warped for a brief period whilst a archwizard attempted and failed an epic spell or ritual. The swirling vortexes open up aboce the ground and people/things are spewed out of them.
1. a army base of d20 future.
2. a small town from the d20 modern.
3. a horde of various elementals
4. a tribe of a few thousand primitives.
5. dinosaurs galore.
6. maybe even through in a few psions with an "post-apocalypse" feel.
7. Possibly a mech or two from d20 future, or a space ship.
8. demons or devils, possibly other planar races as well.

The planes themselves would then be "locked away" the epic spell having cut this world off from any means of planar travel.

After the "event" the clean up and integration of the new inhabitants would be the adventrue, filled with waring sides, and peaceful allies.
Titles I've held:
High Jester-Cleric of Barrok,
Holder of the Glowing cheese flavored knife of Barrok.
Lovable meddling fool, and ghost yeti.
Guardian of what is behind door number 4

That does sound pretty awesome Lithuse.
